I’ve always wanted to make a kids’ book, but never knew what to talk about, what felt important to share, or which values meant the most to me to explore in a book. But it took one thoughtful meeting with Jelani Memory for me to realize that the perfect book tailored to my personal story as a creative was one about navigating my emotional well-being through my mom. A workshop and a few weeks of development later, a humble team of creatives made a kids’ book for kids and grownups to help both groups navigate their big feelings.

BOOK DESIGN
A Kids Book About Emotions uses illustrations, open-ended prompts, and a thesaurus of terms relating to emotional states to help kids and grown-ups walk through tools to understand why we feel emotions, how they can show up, and ways to articulate how we feel. The entire book is a coloring canvas, tactfully folding art therapy with narrative.
